Story
Get to Know Us
Up & At Em Community Initiative is a Massachusetts-based community support organization dedicated to connecting individuals with real, immediate pathways to stability, recovery, and essential services. We focus on serving people across Boston and surrounding areas who are experiencing homelessness, substance use challenges, mental health struggles, housing insecurity, or barriers to accessing care and community resources.
Our work is built on a simple but urgent mission: make support easier to access, more personal, and more effective. Too often, individuals are left navigating complex systems alone—trying to find shelter beds, treatment programs, housing applications, or basic needs support without clear direction. We exist to change that by providing direct guidance, hands-on resource navigation, and consistent follow-through so people are not left without answers.
We operate as a mobile and flexible support network, meeting individuals where they are through Zoom sessions, phone support, and scheduled in-person meetings by appointment. This approach allows us to remove traditional barriers such as transportation, lack of housing, or limited access to local offices. Our goal is to ensure that help is always within reach, no matter someone’s circumstances.
Our services include resource connection, housing navigation, recovery and treatment referrals, peer mentorship, crisis support guidance, and community outreach. Every interaction is centered around respect, confidentiality, and meeting people without judgment. We understand that every person’s situation is different, and we tailor support to match individual needs and goals rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.
Up & At Em Community Initiative was created out of a deep commitment to community care and lived understanding of the challenges many individuals face when trying to rebuild their lives. We believe in practical action, consistent support, and building trust through real engagement—not just referrals, but follow-through.
We also work to build strong partnerships with local shelters, recovery programs, healthcare providers, and community organizations across Massachusetts. By strengthening these connections, we are able to create a more responsive and accessible support network for the people we serve.
